The significance of an object is unknowable to anyone except the owner. Only they know how and why it belongs to them, and therefore what the object means to them. Over time an object could become more valuable to the owner, or less important in their lives. Owning objects without purpose, that use to be meaningful, could cause guilt. (I used to love this thing, but now it sits in my closet. I have so many memories with it, but I don't use it or think about it anymore...).
As people change, our definition of meaningful changes too. What was meaningful to you 5 years ago, may not be meaningful to you today.
It doesn't mean you "don't care" any more. Your meaning simply changed.
